Property prices on Rightmove change more often than most people realise. A listing might drop £25,000 after two weeks, or quietly increase by £10,000 after a flurry of viewings. Unless you're checking every listing daily, you'll miss these changes entirely — and that can mean missing the best moment to make an offer, or failing to notice a property entering your budget.

This guide shows you how to track Rightmove price changes automatically, without manually checking listings or maintaining a spreadsheet by hand.

Why track price changes?

Price movements tell you a lot about a property and the local market:

How to track prices with the extension

The Export Rightmove to CSV extension has built-in price tracking. Here's how to set it up:

1

Install and scan a search page

Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, go to any Rightmove search results page, click the extension icon, and hit Scan Page.

2

Save the properties you want to track

In the scan results, click the heart icon next to any listing to save it. You can save individual properties or use Save All to track every listing on the page. Saved properties are stored locally in your browser — no account needed.

3

Check back and re-scan

The next time you visit the same search (or any search containing those properties), scan the page again. If any price has changed, the extension highlights it immediately — green for drops, red for increases — with the exact amount and percentage change.

4

Check your saved list for a full picture

Open the Saved tab in the extension to see all your tracked properties in one place. Each listing shows its current price, original price, change amount, and percentage. Properties that are no longer on Rightmove are flagged with a freshness indicator so you know they've been removed.

Automatic price monitoring

You don't have to remember to re-scan manually. The extension runs background checks on your saved properties at regular intervals and updates their prices automatically. If it detects a change, you'll see a notification badge on the extension icon and a price change alert when you open the popup.

How it works technically: The extension periodically visits each saved property's listing URL in the background and compares the current price against the stored price. It does this locally — no data is sent to any server. The checks happen every few hours to stay well within normal browsing behaviour.

New listing alerts

Beyond price tracking, you can also set up alerts for entirely new listings. Open the Alerts tab in the extension while on a Rightmove search page and click Watch this search. The extension will check that search at your chosen interval (from every 30 minutes to every 4 hours) and send you a Chrome notification when new properties appear.

This is particularly useful in competitive markets where properties go under offer within days of being listed. Instead of refreshing Rightmove manually, you get notified automatically.

Comparing saved properties

Once you've saved a few properties, you can use the Compare feature to put them side by side. Select 2 to 5 saved listings and the extension generates a comparison table highlighting the best values — lowest price, most bedrooms, best price-per-sqft — making it easy to see which property offers the most for your money.

Exporting price history

Your entire saved list — including price changes, status tags, and notes — can be exported to CSV, Excel, JSON, or HTML at any time. This gives you a permanent record of how prices moved, useful for keeping your mortgage broker or investment partners in the loop.
